Pantry Organization
The pantry in our house always looks like a bomb went off! I never could find anything and always felt like I was running up to the store for things I thought we had. After looking at many organized pantry on-line, I decided it was time to conquer our kitchen pantry. The first thing I did was take everything out of the pantry including food, food storage containers and junk/trash that may have accumulated and grouped them within our kitchen counters and kitchen table. This allowed me spot duplicates, spoiled foods and get a general sense of how much space each type of item will need. I looked at each item to make sure it had not expired, to see if I even still used it or liked it. After getting rid of a ton of food that had made its way to the back of the pantry, I was ready to start putting all my food in plastic storage containers. Let me just say how much I LOVE Bed, Bath and Beyond. They had all my storage needs and I got to use my 20% coupons on every container...which saved me a ton of money (and that makes it easy to justify my project to the hubs). After putting all the food in their “special” containers, I pulled out my label maker and went crazy. Yes, I know I went overboard BUT it is so pretty now.
Home Delivery
Every other Tuesday we have fresh, local, organic vegetables and fruits delivered to our house. We started this about 2 months ago, and it has been the best service ever. The guesswork of which veggies to eat for the week is over and the cost is very comparable to what I’d spend at Whole Foods or Native Sun. Both the quality and quantity of the produce in our baskets have been amazing. It used to be difficult because of our hectic schedules to keep fresh organic fruits & veggies on hand, but having home delivery service has provided an easy and convenient solution. With two kids in our in the house it has also help us increase the amount of different fruits and vegetables we give them. I love that my girls are now trying different produce and not just eating the “generic” grocery bought produce. There are a couple of different delivery services in Jacksonville, however, we can only speak for Palmetto Organics (http://palmettoorganics.com/). A few of my friends use other services in Jacksonville, but I can only speak high of Palmetto Organics. We just love Tuesday now!
