shoulder surgery + toddler= CHALLENGING!

WOW..... 2 weeks have past since my shoulder surgery & I am happy to report we have all survived.

First week was horrible- my 1.5 hour scope surgery ended up being 4 hours- rotator cuff, labrum and bicep tendon tear. Nice scar to remind me of my ordeal- not something I wanted with living in Florida and wearing swimsuits, tank tops and sundresses most of the year :(.
I was super sick from anesthesia, pain medicine and in a great deal of pain. Lexi was unusually fussy since I was unable to pick her up, mom was exhausted from being our 24 hour care taker and hubby missed my huge celebration for his birthday (so thankful for mom making him a delicious dinner & yummy cake). HUGE CHALLENGE!!!

Second week was much better: Monday a "true angel" walked thru door- my wonderful nanny/driver. The week went so much smoother. I stopped all heavy pain medicine, started feeling human again, went on some outings, made great progress in PT and even felt good enough to go get my hair washed and styled.  I felt 100% better Friday night.

Oh how I have taken my daily mommy, wife, womanly tasks for granted. Everything I do everyday for my family, house and life to run smoothly now takes 3-4 people to do.

10 more weeks then I can have some freedom and drive. Hooray.

I have been asked by my mommy peers my opinion on having the surgery: Unfortunately for me I had to have the surgery now not wait or I would lose function of my shoulder BUT if it wasn't as severe, I would wait until Lexi was older to understand why I can't hold her and was in school. My right shoulder has a tear -I will rehab it and wait as long as I can to have it repaired.

To my fellow moms- know your limits and please be careful not to injure your major extremities. Recovery is not fun and having other people run your life is beyond frustrating.
